I am Bogdan Nicolae Rus, a licensed New Jersey REALTOR® with eXp Realty (license #2186044). My day-to-day focus is Hudson County, and I also help buyers, sellers and renters in Sussex County.

My search pulls from the Hudson County MLS and Garden State MLS, so it may not show every home on the market in Sussex County. If you spot a home somewhere else, send me the address and I will look into it.

Getting around

How do you get around from Sussex County?

Sussex County has no NJ Transit train station of its own. The nearest commuter rail is on NJ Transit's Morris and Essex Lines at Hackettstown, Mount Olive, Netcong, Lake Hopatcong, Mount Arlington and Dover, which residents reach by car or by contracted bus service.

Most daily trips here are by car, so I check the drive for each home, not only the town.

What it is like

What should you know about Sussex County?

Vernon Township is the largest municipality in Sussex County by both population and land, with 22,358 residents in the 2020 census. High Point, at the northern tip of New Jersey in Montague Township, rises 1,803 feet above sea level, the highest natural elevation in the state.

Taxes and zoning are set town by town, so I check them for the specific home, not the county as a whole.

A little history

How did Sussex County begin?

Sussex County was created on June 8, 1753, from part of Morris County, and is named after the county of Sussex in England. In 1824, Warren County was carved out of its southern part.
